Stories from Solheim Captains and Participants
That silly red, white and blue sequence hat I wore in 1994 came from the official LPGA hairdresser. My head is so wide and that hat is narrow that it looked ridiculous on me. One day before the week of The Solheim Cup, I went into the locker area and a European team member called it the ugliest hat. That’s all I needed to hear. I announced that I would be wearing it as captain. I wore it everyday during the matches and even when our victorious team visited President Clinton in the White House’s Oval Office.
It was a great experience for me to play at Greenbrier, my first Solheim Cup. I was so nervous on the first tee, I felt like I was going to throw up. Someone told me I turned white, then green.
