Our Ambassadors The World Golf Hall of Fame has found some of its greatest ambassadors within its own membership. While all Hall of Fame members play an integral role in the vitality of the institution, a few members have committed additional time and energy to help communicate the message and build awareness for the project. As Global Ambassador, Gary Player acts as the spokesman for the Hall of Fame on an international level. He attends special events, participates in communications and various marketing programs, including a starring role in the Hall of Fame's public service announcements (PSAs). Player was a part of the inaugural class inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974. He has won nine professional majors and is one of only five players to win golf's modern grand slam. Ben Crenshaw joined as a Player Ambassador in 2003 after being inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2002. Crenshaw also can be seen in a series of PSAs as part of a "Hall of Fame Storyteller Series." World Golf Hall of Fame PSAs air on various tournament broadcasts, including PGA TOUR, Champions Tour, LPGA and PGA of America events. Crenshaw has won 19 PGA TOUR events, including two Masters Tournaments. Carol Mann works with the Hall of Fame's member relations department and is instrumental in the development of the museum's exhibit program. Her primary responsibility is facilitating the ongoing relationship between the Hall of Fame and its members, encouraging their participation year-round. Inducted in 1977, Mann won the 1965 U.S. Women's Open, had 38 LPGA Tour victories and served as one of the LPGA's most influential presidents.
